Dental implants are the optimal choice for replacing missing teeth. We have almost 20 years experience of placing and maintaining dental implants at our Neutral Bay surgery. They provide an excellent functional and aesthetic outcome for a majority of patients. Implants are essentially as good as having a natural smile all over again!
Thanks to the latest technology and research, modern dental implants are more conservative than past tooth replacement options. The only requirement to have dental implants is that you are in good health and have adequate and healthy bone.
When possible, we always want to preserve natural teeth. Unfortunately, that’s not always an option. It’s in these cases that dental implants are a very viable and a more common tooth replacement option.
Every dental implant case starts with a consultation and thorough exam. We’ll take an X-ray of the area needing to be restored and determine if it’s adequate for an implant to be placed. Your overall general health is important too. Be sure to let us know if you’re taking any medications or have recently been hospitalized.
If you’re a candidate for implants, we’ll plan the initial placement procedure. The visit is minimally invasive, with us creating an opening in the bone and inserting the implant into it. A few small X-rays are taken as we go. Only a small amount of local anaesthetic is needed! As the area heals, your body integrates with the implant surface.
About four months later, we’ll check your implant is fully integrated. At that point, we’ll affix your permanent implant crown on top.

If you’re a candidate for implants, we’ll plan the initial placement procedure. The visit is minimally invasive, with us creating an opening in the bone and placing the implant down into it. Implants can be used for any number of missing teeth. For single implants for individual teeth, we craft a porcelain crown to fit on top of the abutment. When you smile, the implant and crown blend in with your overall bite. In the case of multiple missing teeth, we can use a multi-tooth bridge that’s anchored on either end by implants (instead of you needing a partial denture).
If you need help stabilising a denture or you want an alternative to a removable appliance, speak to us about the options available.
